That's a lovely idea, Diana,' said Anne enthusiastically. 'Living so that you beautify your name, even if it wasn't beautiful to begin with…making it stand in people's thoughts for something so lovely and pleasant that they never think of it by itself."
— L.M. Montgomery (Anne of Avonlea)

Blythe

i was so sure she was going to be another boy...
couldn't believe how petite and beautiful she was.
we named her Blythe, a surname from the "Anne " books .
she is all of the spirit , determination and spunk I loved about Anne ,
our family would be so boring without her.
it is so amazing to me that she is now a young woman graduating.
"Anne " always said it is better to be smart than pretty..
my Blythe is both.

if you ask me i would say that my favorite season is summer , but more and more i am realizing maybe it is fall. i have a thing for trees and i love leaves and fall is really when they are the stars of the show. i did this shoot with christian on his last day at home before we took him to university and it was a fun way to spend some time together. these are hard days for us , our family getting used to him being gone and he being homesick. when we were in the city we used his GPS and when we took a wrong turn it would say in a flustered british lady voice "reconfiguring , reconfiguring" that is how i feel these days but i am sure that by the time the leaves have all fallen he will be having a great time and we will feel better because of it.

one of my many favorites from a session i did with christian last week.
i should really have found the time to edit them all too because we took him to
university this weekend and now i will be trying to work on them through watery eyes!
more to come..

catcher in the rye

my beautiful boy  on the front page of  http://www.digitalimagecafe.com/  today!
this is what the judge said...
" there is an edginess to this image that grabbed and held my attention. This quirky almost dark quality is enhanced by the B&W treatment, beautiful side-lighting,and placement of the subject in a natural environment that only reveals his upper body. The scene actually reminds me of Alfred Hitchcock's early B&W movies( Anthony Perkins in  psycho) The title and that stare create a storyline that has a rebellious nature."
.... WOW!

on a clear day...

it was a unseasonably sunny ,warm Sunday afternoon and
a perfect day to dress up and go do a shoot just for
the fun of it.i hired my youngest ( with an ice-cream treat )
to be my assistant and hold the reflector and took my beautiful daughter Blythe
and drove out into the country.if you are a high school senior i think this is
a great way to do grad pictures . shows off your style and personality much better than the traditional cap and gown shot ... who really wants that?1
